I’m going to have to re-mention how great the food is here. It is such a pleasure enjoying the homecooked meals that show the style of food eaten here. I’m getting so much exposure to different types of breads, sambars, soups, things I don’t know the names of and a whole arrangement of other vegetarian dishes. I attached a picture so you have an idea.
This morning Mary and I went on a walk/run. It felt great to get out in the morning and get a bit back into my exercise routine, which is hard here when I don’t want to go out alone and I only have the resources in my room for shoulder exercises. Later, I interviewed another teacher trainer before doing some work in the workshop on the Brightbox. We ran our lesson again in a classroom and Naresh said that he loved the exercises. While everything didn’t go that smoothly, the instructors loved what we have built and there is some great potential. We then had a big feedback and catch-up session as a team. We also had a really communal dinner (it just had a very strong team bond, which was really nice).
Some things to note on the culture here. Conserving power and resources is a very big emphasis that I appreciate. It may be why there are switches on all of the outlets. Things are rarely timely. Start times have quite a bit of a wishy washy feel and planning isn’t always the most essential. Going back on the food topic, when food is offered, it is less of a request then a demand. They will not allow you to be hungry. Also, there is a big culture around tea breaks. I will be in a meeting, in any random room, or standing on the porch and tea will be brought to us.
